Bubwith Glebe Terriers: 1780, 1781, 1809

1780

A true and perfect terrier of all the lands, stipendiary payments and all other Ecclesiastical dues and rights whatsoever belonging to the vicarage of Bubwith made by the Vicar Churchwardens and principal Inhabitants this 1st Aug 1786.


Small tythes are due to the Vicar throughout the parish viz every Easter's oblations and other small Tythes and reckonings such as cows, calves, hens, eggs, bees, foals, dove houses, whins, mustard, pigs, ducks and geese, a modus is pleaded for Gunby but the present Vicar calls it a rank Modus and on that ground denies it to be good and refuses to take it. At Midsummer a moiety of half the wool and lamb is due to the vicar throughout the parish. At Michaelmas hemp, line, rape, potatoes, turnips, carrots, apples, plums, pears, cherries, berries, gressel wood, thorns, nuts and filberts are due throughout the parish except hemp, line, potatoes and a moiety of turnips which are due only in the garths and in the township of Bubwith as appears by an award after a six years suit in Chancery dated March 12th 1736. 


The chancel is repaired by the owners or occupiers of the Great Tythes. The vestry by Gunby Estate.

Small tythes are due to the Vicar throughout the parish viz every Easter's oblations and other small reckonings as cows, calves, hens, eggs, bees, foals, dove houses, whins etc, except the township of Breighton which pays a certain stipend by messuage and cottage at Midsummer. A moiety of half the wool and lamb at Michaelmas. Hemp, line, rape, potatoes, turnips, carrots, apples, gressel wood, thorns, nuts and filberts in the town of Bubwith only. Geese, ducks, turkies and piggs as they happen throughout the parish. A modus of five shillings and six pence is paid yearly for Gunby.


The chancel is repaired by the owners or occupiers of the Great Tythes. The church and Tower by the parish in general. The vestry by Gunby Estate.

A modus is pleaded for Gunby but the present Vicar calls it a Rank Modus and on that ground denies it to be good. At Midsummer a moiety of half the wool and lamb is due to the vicar throughout the parish. At Michaelmas hemp, line, rape, potatoes and turnips in the township of Bubwith. A moiety of turnips, the whole of carrots, apples, plums, pears, cherries, berries, gressel wood, thorns, nuts and filberts are due throughout the parish
